About Freshmill

Freshmill is a 22-year-old Afrobeats singer from Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. He started recording music on his phone in 2020, turning feeling into melody one voice note at a time. His sound blends honest songwriting with smooth Afrobeats rhythm, shaped by the influence of Wizkid. With his single "Everyday," Freshmill is showing that the most personal stories are often the most universal.

In Freshmill's words

Who are your biggest musical influences?

Wizkid. The way he carries a melody and stays true to his own sound, that is the blueprint for me.

What is the story behind “Everyday”?

When I made "Everyday," I was in a reflective place, thinking about life, love, and everything I had been through. I was carrying a lot of emotions, and I wanted to turn those feelings into something people could connect with. It is okay to feel deeply and to be honest about what is going on inside you. I want people to enjoy the sound, but beyond the music, I hope they hear the emotion behind it and find a part of their own story in the song.

What's next for you?

There is a lot to look forward to. I am working on new music and preparing some exciting releases I cannot wait for my fans to hear. I am also open to collaborating with artists who bring something unique, and I want to perform more and connect with my fans on a deeper level. This is just the beginning, so stay tuned. New sounds, new experiences, bigger moves.

Why we picked Freshmill

Some artists chase the spotlight. Freshmill grew into it one phone recording at a time. Starting in 2020 in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, he built his sound from the most honest place available: his own emotions. "Everyday" is the clearest window into that approach. Written in a season of reflection on life and love, the song asks nothing of the listener except honesty. That sincerity, carried on smooth Afrobeats rhythm in the lineage of Wizkid, is what makes Freshmill our Artist of the Season. And by his own account, this is just the beginning.
